Semantic Persistence Index

Semantic Persistence Index is a metric that quantifies how consistently a Memory Object or Memory Fragment retains its original meaning, relationships, and authoritative standing across AI retrieval events over time. It measures not only the frequency of accurate retrieval but also the stability of semantic context in AI outputs.

Unlike Memory Horizon, which measures retention duration, the Semantic Persistence Index evaluates the *quality and consistency* of representation throughout that period.

The Semantic Persistence Index is derived from:

  • Retrieval consistency — how often the same canonical definition is retrieved across test queries
  • Contextual stability — preservation of entity relationships and intended scope
  • Trust alignment — sustained Trust Scores and absence of Trust Drift
  • Representation accuracy — minimal paraphrase distortion or factual alteration
  • Cross-surface coherence — matching definitions across Memory Surfaces and Trust Surfaces

The result is expressed as a normalized value (0–100) indicating semantic stability over a defined measurement period.
