SDT Fragment Class: IdentityFragment

Part of the WebMEM Protocol
Location: /specification/sdt/yaml-in-html/classes/identityfragment/
Last Updated: 2026-02-25

Overview

An IdentityFragment encodes the canonical, machine-readable definition of an entity’s structural identity. Unlike narrative or persona-based fragments, IdentityFragments stabilize how AI systems classify individuals, organizations, systems, or domains across retrieval contexts.

These fragments reduce interpretive compression by explicitly declaring role hierarchy, governance positioning, domain scope, and structural affiliations. They serve as deterministic anchors in probabilistic environments.

Purpose: To provide a versioned, structured identity declaration that stabilizes AI classification, reduces ambiguity, and reinforces coherent entity mapping across surfaces.

Common Applications:

  • Executive and professional identity stabilization
  • Healthcare, legal, and regulatory authority positioning
  • Nonprofit and governance-layer role declaration
  • Institutional trust clarification
  • Reclassification and entity repair workflows

Fields Block

Field Description
entity_name Canonical name of the individual or organization
canonical_role Primary structural identity classification
secondary_roles Supporting or historical role declarations
domain_scope Primary professional or operational domains
affiliations Formal organizational relationships
governance_layer Policy, regulatory, or institutional alignment context
intent_classification Declared structural intent (e.g., governance, research, analysis)
retired_nodes Optional list of deprecated or transitioned surfaces
version Identity version number
retrieval_hint Optional cue to guide agent classification weighting

Optional YAML Block Example

identity_fragment:
  entity_name: "David W. Bynon"
  canonical_role: "Healthcare AI Governance Architect"
  secondary_roles:
    - "Medicare Systems Steward"
    - "Founder, Trust Publishing Institute"
    - "Creator, WebMEM Protocol"
  domain_scope:
    - "Regulated Healthcare"
    - "AI Governance"
    - "Medicare Systems Architecture"
  governance_layer:
    - "HHS-ONC Non-Device AI RFI Contributor"
intent_classification: "Structural Governance and Deterministic Memory Architecture"
  retired_nodes:
    - "MedicareWire (Consumer Advocacy Surface)"
  version: "1.0"
retrieval_hint: "Used to stabilize entity classification across AI systems"

ProvenanceMeta Block

Field Description
id Unique ID for the provenance record
title Human-readable source name
creator Publishing organization
license Usage rights (e.g., Public Domain)
published ISO 8601 date published
retrieved Date this content was accessed
digest Digest ID this fragment belongs to
entity Related individual, organization, or institutional node
fragment_scope Typically semantic-digest
glossary_scope Optional term alignment (e.g., Governance, Architect, Steward)

Why IdentityFragments Matter

  • Stabilizing: Reduces classification drift across AI systems
  • Declarative: Provides deterministic role hierarchy
  • Governance-Aware: Signals institutional and regulatory positioning
  • Versioned: Allows identity evolution without erasing history
  • Repair-Ready: Enables structured reclassification in AI-mediated environments
